CAPA faculty includes some of Australia’s leading performing arts specialists and educators. Classes are offered daily for children from 3 years to Adults – beginners to professional levels with classes held at Warriewood and Collaroy Plateau Studios.

Alexandra  Harrington – Hopkins
(Director, Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary,  Drama, Musical Theatre, Vocal, Acrobatics, C.A.P.A Creative )

Alex has been in the Entertainment and Education Industry for more than 25 years and was trained in all genres of the Performing Arts. She was Head of Performance, at the Australian International Performing Arts High School, Head of Dance at the McDonald College of Performing Arts and was Concept and Creator of the first VETAB accredited Certificate IV in Performing Arts.

Alex a professional dancer since the age of 17 years she has travelled the world as a performer working in live theatre, film and television. She worked as the Show Director / Choreographer for Walt Disney Special Events Australasia directing and choreographing shows all over Australasia.  Some highlights: Hercules premiere  Hollywood Bowl and 5oth celebrations Tokyo Dome, Principle Dancer Lola in Baz Luhrmann Film Moulin Rouge.

Alex is currently the Director and Creator of Wild Aussies Pty Ltd, a children’s entertainment business that travels the world education Children about endangered species and has created world first live animal shows for Zoo’s Victoria.

Alex has completed the HLTAID004 Certificate in First Aid in an Education and Care setting at the CBD College in June 2015 and is currently Studying Early Childhood Education Certificate 3.

Mark Hopkins
(Director, Drama, Film, Television, Stage, Performance)

Mark heads the team at CAPTIVATE, the creative and performing arts program for Catholic schools in the Diocese of Parramatta, and has over 20 years’ experience in secondary performing arts education. He has led large performing arts faculties at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, The McDonald College and before coming to CEDP, as principal of the Australian International Performing Arts High School.

Mark’s background is in the commercial media and professional theatre, having worked as a radio producer, actor, dramaturge and director in Sydney and Melbourne. He remains closely involved with the professional performing arts community and has written as a theatre critic for The Sydney Morning Herald. Mark is passionate about young people in the different performing arts being given an education that provides both a head start to a career and the resilience to excel in any industry.

Angie  ( R.A.D Classical Ballet)

A fully internationally qualified teacher of R.A.D Classical Ballet, Angela has studied BA Dance at UWS, with studies in classical ballet, contemporary dance, indigenous dance & story, music theory, dance composition, physical theatre & writing for dance.   She recently worked on site with the professional team at the International Genée ballet competition in Sydney, with a group of 82 elite ballet dancers from over 15 counties, under the guidance of guest faculty experts from the Australian Ballet, London Rad & the Royal Ballet.
Completing her schooling at Sydney Girls High School, she studied visual arts, performing arts & drama, & was awarded accolades for excellence in drama composition & performance, showcasing a self devised piece for the inaugural “Onstage” presentation.
Angela continues to improve & expand her teaching skills & regularly participates in RAD workshops, training intensives, syllabus courses & exam prep workshops.

 

Chandel ( Vocal, Drama, Dance, Musical Theatre ) 

Chandel is a NIDA graduate with a Diploma of Music Theatre, and Advanced Actor Residency. Trained in Piano, Voice, Acting, Improvisation, Speech, Broadway Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet and Contemporary.

Chandel has recently appeared in The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child, Songs of a New World, CATS, Carols by Candlelight Channel 7 and the Today Show.

 

Kristie (Jazz. Tap, Musical Theatre, Technique, Classical and Performance)

Kristie trained at the McDonald College School of Performing Arts and London Studio Centre, graduating with Distinction and twice winning the Tom Merrifield Scholarship for the Best All-Rounder.

She has peformed in many professioinal Theatre productions such as; Crazy for You, Grease, My Fair Lady and Long Way to the Top Tour to name a few.

Kristie’s professional career also includes dance contracts on cruise ships in internationally as a dancer/dance captain and choreographer.

I have been a professional dance teacher now for 15 years and have guest taught at the Sydney Dance Company. Since having young kids of my own i know love being able to teach young dancers and share my passion for the industry.

Ryan (Jazz, Acrobatics, Vocal, Technique, Tap)

Ryan is an Triple threat performer. A vocalist, Dancer  and Actor   he  has completed Certifiicate III and Certificate IV in Dance, RAD intermediate and has completed Acrobatics grading Level 1- 10. He has appeared in Australia’s Got talent, performed with Primal Dance Company and worked with Delta on the Voice. Ryan  is currently studying a Diploma of Musical Theatre and has worked professionally since 2012.
